Matthew Goode appears in two very British Netflix offerings, including an Agatha Christie adaptation. And Chicago royalty gather for a cross-genre concert.

What’s Streaming

ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE on Amazon. Agatha Christie novels make great source material. But last year, “Crooked House” and “Murder on the Orient Express” were both tepidly received, as some critics complained about pacing. Now, Sarah Phelps, the showrunner of this new limited series, hopes that Christie’s methodical and suspense-ridden tales are better suited to long-form television. The series will tell the story of the Argyll family members, who accused an adopted and outcast sibling of murdering their matriarch. But when evidence surfaces suggesting otherwise, they must come to terms with the fact that the murderer is still among them. The cast includes Bill Nighy, Alice Eve and Matthew Goode.

ALL ABOUT THE WASHINGTONS on Netflix. Hip-hop has hit middle age, with rappers like Jay-Z and Kanye West pondering their longevity and tenuous places within the genre’s hierarchy through rhyme. The former Run-DMC member Rev Run will explore the position of being a star and a father in this semi-autobiographical sitcom, which, like “Incredibles 2,” depicts a mother focusing on her career opportunities, leaving the father at home to keep the kids in line.

THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY (2018) on Netflix. You wouldn’t be at fault if you caught a glimpse of this Netflix movie and assumed it was a “Downton Abbey” continuation: Lily James (who played Rose MacClare on “Downton”), Jessica Brown Findlay (Sybil Crawley), Penelope Wilton (Isobel Crawley) and Matthew Goode (Henry Talbot) all make appearances. But this film takes place a generation after “Downton Abbey,” in postwar Britain, and is based on a 2008 novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Ms. James stars as a novelist exploring a secret book club that formed during the German occupation in World War II.

What’s on TV

THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW 9 p.m. on PBS. Four bakers compete for a spot in the final. The delectables on tap on Friday are petits fours, fraisier cakes and choux gâteau.

GREAT PERFORMANCES 10 p.m. on PBS. This PBS series often focuses on New York, taking viewers into the hallowed halls of the Metropolitan Opera. But on Friday it turns its gaze on the Second City, with the program “Chicago Voices.” Cameras inside Lyric Opera capture prominent artists across genres with deep ties to Chicago. The opera singer Renée Fleming will sing “Summertime” and later be joined by the country singer John Prine. The Broadway star Jessie Mueller will perform a duet with the jazz crooner Kurt Elling. And Lupe Fiasco will perform his rap classic “Kick Push.”
