Gemma Collins began training for Dancing on Ice last year, ahead of the latest series kicking off in January 2019. The 38-year-old has since lost an impressive two and a half stone. Fans have since commented on her slimmer figure, and now, Gemma has spoken about her fitness plans for the future. So, what did her rigorous training regime which saw her burn thousands of calories each timeinvolve?
While ice skating may not be the typical choice of work out, it seems that this activity can be a very good way to burn calories.
With the activity clearly having helped Gemma to slim, the reality TV star’s Dancing on Ice partner Matt Evers shed some light on the impact it can have.
Speaking to the Sun Online in recent weeks, he revealed that the pair had been training several times a week in order to prepare for their weekly performances.
The 42-year-old professional skater said: “Now she is doing two hours training, three times a week, burning at least 1,000 calories a time.”
But, that’s not all, as the pair also regularly spent full days focusing on their dances – seeing Gemma burn even more calories, and going on to lose more weight.
He spilled: “Then there’s a full studio day on Sunday and choreography on Monday which is even longer.”
So, now that she’s no longer competing in the show, will she continue with her impressive work outs?
It seems so, as Gemma has insisted that she plans to continue with the exercise routine.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning yesterday, she said: “I will 100 per cent keep up with the fitness.”
Discussing the change in her body, she continued: “I feel so much better.
“I can just move a lot more. I can do my shoes up.
“I had about three tyres round my middle and they’ve gone. I’m still a bigger girl, but when I got on the scales I was shocked.”
